Dear Hurley Families,
On behalf of the Neighborhood Parents for the Hurley School, we want to welcome you to our community.
NPHS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that acts as the development arm of the Hurley School. We are current parents, community members, and volunteers who believe in bilingual public education and see the need to enhance the academic experience of all students at Hurley. Our mission is to bridge the gaps in the funding that Hurley receives from the Boston Public School System. The money we raise will pay for reading specialists, music education, classroom materials, social/emotional support programs, professional development, and more. Our long-term goals are to remodel our auditorium into a multi-use space, build a STEAM program for our bilingual students, and remodel our schoolyard to enhance learning and play.
NPHS raises money through an annual appeal, and through fundraising events. As we continue to navigate this challenging time, our mission remains the same: to raise funds to bridge the gap between the BPS budget and what Hurley students need and deserve during this time. This year, we’re thrilled to continue our music partnerships with Handel & Haydn Society and the Community Music Center Boston, providing music classes for the lower grades and a song writing course for the upper grades.
We would love to get more people involved with NPHS. Every parent has something valuable to contribute, whether it is time, talent, or treasure, and all of our children will benefit from this generosity.
Mark your calendars!
- Monday, September 20th, at 7:30pm, is our first NPHS meeting.

- Thursday, September 23, from 4-6pm, we will be kicking off our K1/K2 garden project. We’re removing some bushes and getting the area outside the K1/K2 classrooms ready for a garden that the students can help plant and grow. We’d love volunteers to come and help us prepare the area. Please bring your own gloves and water bottles.
- Friday, May 20, 2022 is Tropicaliente, our biggest fundraising event! We are excited to be planning it once again for this coming Spring, after missing it for the past two years. Stay tuned!
As the co-presidents of NPHS, we look forward to working with you to make this another great school year!
